With the passage of Paul Newman, it’s difficult for anyone “into” watches to not think at least a bit about the mythical association between the great actor and the coveted vintage Rolex Daytonas, such as the Ref. 6241 and the 6263. According to Rolex authority John Brozek, there is much controversy over which so-called “exotic dial” Daytona Newman actually wore, where he first appeared wearing it (i.e. the 1969 film “Winning”), and just how collectors came to connect this timepiece so much with the man. Paul Newman is celebrated as an exemplary human being, who conducted himself with class in every endeavor he chose to pursue.
