The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Survivor, developed as a high-precision instrument, surprises by a variety of original decisions regarding its design and technical characteristics.
The matt black dial of the Audemars Piguet watch features an exclusive ‘Mega fdfTapisserie’ guilloche pattern nicely matching the chequered motif of the strap. The dial is characterized by optimal readability as it is completed with skeleton hour and minute hands, luminescent hour-markers and silvery small seconds counter. The chronograph function is presented through a central sweep seconds hand, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter.
The sturdy case of the watch, 42mm in diameter, is provided with water-resistant antimagnetic system reliably protecting the mechanism inside. The case is crafted from ultra-light blackened titanium. The same material has been used for the crown, studs, push-pieces and push-piece guards, as well as the strap buckle. Titanium has also been used for the lower part of the octagonal bezel, with the upper part crafted from ceramics.
The bezel features perforations lightening up the case structure that still maintains remarkable sturdiness.
The push-pieces guards are hollowed and offer great user-friendliness. The push-pieces have acquired conical shape to allow immediate activation of the chronographgf function.
The oversized crown has a notched rim, while the case edge is ratcheted for a quick and sure grip.
The titanium medallion case back is special for its non-slip texture. The case back reveals the following inscriptiogfn engraved on the titanium surface – ‘Royal Oak Offshore Survivor – Limited Edition.’ The case construction boasts 100-meter water-resistance.
The timepiece is equipped with the exclusive Audemars Pigfguet self-winding Calibre 3126/3840. The movement, comprising 365 parts and 59 jewels, is developed to provide supreme sturdiness, reliability and precision rating. The mechanism gives an advantage of a 60-hour power-reserve.
The mainspring supplies constant force over a longer period of time to ensure greater rating accuracy. The cross-through balance-cock reinforces the movement’sf stability. The balance-stop mechanism is used for immobilizing the seconds hand and allows time-setting to thef closest second. The variable-inertia balance incorporates eight inertia blocks to enable accurate and stable adjustment. The fast date correction is provided with an integrated security system to avoid blockage of the date disc in case of the midnight adjustment.
All the movement parts are f decorated by hand and the bridges f are embellished with ‘Cotes De Geneve’ Motif.

New IWC Pilot’s Watch Inspired by Best Combat Pilots

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition TOP GUN has been inspired by the TOP GUN pilots vv of the US Navy, the fighter pilots that are rightfully considered to be the best in the field. xzThe symbol of the elite American pilots is discreetly featured on the case flank of the IWC watch as well as on the screw-down titanium case back of the pilot’s watch.
The IWC xx watchmakers opted to produce the case of the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition TOP GUN from high-tech ceramic, while the watch’s operating elements are crafted in titanium. The black case of the IWC pilot’s watch measures 46 mm in diameter. It is stamped with a distinctive touch of masculinity and styled as the cockpit instrument.
Relevant to the field of mechanical chronometry, the IWC watch provides the corresponding functions. The split-seconds function of the timepiece allows the measurement, with the second-accuracy, stop times together with any necessary intermediate times within a given minute. The two chronograph hands catch attention as they are designed with red counterweights shaped as the silhouette of a fighter aircraft. The black dial of the pilot’s watch displays the totalizers that keep record of stop times up to 12 hours.
The latest addition to the IWC range of pilot’s watches is based upon a new modern production method that results in the super-hard, non-magnetic, wear- and acid-resistant blanks. Today watch-makers are able to mould the case blanks in a more efficient and more accurate way. The blanks are baked at extreme temperatures between 1,500 – 2,000 degrees Celsius. Later they are cooled in a sophisticated process that allows the material to acquire all its supreme properties. Finally, the blanks are intricately finished while using diamond-tipped tools.
All the IWC TOP GUN watches to be produced in future will be based upon the successful mixture of ceramic and titanium for the case back and the operating elements. The case of the TOP GUN is considerably sized, still it offers the advantage of extremely low weight and comfort of wearing – the watch is secured to the wrist with help of a black nylon strap.
The IWC watch-makers provided the movement of the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition TOP GUN with maximum protection against magnetic fields. They equipped the timepiece with an inner case produced from soft iron. As for sapphire glass, it was secured with special coating on both sides to protect it against a sudden air pressure drop. The automatic movement of the IWC watch provides a 44-hours power reserve.

The new Pilot’s Watch Classic collection remains true to its tradition of timepieces designed specially for pilots. The five models are also bestowed with the puristic instrument look: rffgfestrained, optimal legibility thanks to sapphire glass coated on both sides and high functionality. IWC completes its classic line with the new Midsize, a Mark XVI on a reduced scale.
